Professionals working with aging adult populations in their communities will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of collaboration between service providers and caregivers to promote healthy aging in seniors.
  2. Be able to identify issues and challenges facing seniors in marginalized groups and compare strategies to reduce isolationism and potential maltreatment of seniors.
  3. Develop strategies for seniors to remain healthy and active participants in their communities.
  4. Compare differences and recognize challenges faced by aging populations living in rural vs. urban settings. - Analysis
  5. Show how creating a ‘holistic’ approach to health and wellness benefits seniors in Alberta and apply best practices.

Calgary Family Services Training Institute , provider #1114, is approved as a provider for Social Work Continuing Education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org , through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. Calgary Family Services maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: July 2012 to July 2015. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive 10 continuing education clock hours.
